It is quite funny when you start to think about cruising the Pacific Ocean. 30 percent of our planet is the Pacific Ocean. Then there are some dots in the middle of that huge expanse.
The Two main areas that I’m going to cover in this article are the Galapagos Islands and The Hawaiian Islands. Both have airports and Hawaii is definitely a land destination for people that prefer to stay in a hotel or resort.
However, because both are archipelagos, one fascinating way to reach them and visit them is on a cruise ship.
The Galápagos Islands
If you’re interested in cruising the pacific ocean, Two of our preferred suppliers have permission to cruise and visit the Galápagos Islands.
Hurtigruten Expeditions
Hurtigruten has a ship (the newly refurbished expedition ship, MS Santa Cruz II) that is constantly in the Galápagos Islands and the West coast of South America. There are several itineraries, most of them starting from the island of Santa Cruz. A short plane ride from Ecuador puts you at the port and ready to sail.
Celebrity Cruises
Celebrity Cruises has Three ships in the Galápagos Islands -Flora, Xpedition and Xploration.
The Flora was designed and built specifically for the Galápagos. Flora is a 100 passenger all-suite mega-yacht with an outward looking design that ensures guests always have a perfect view of their surroundings. Certified naturalists from the Galápagos National Park are on board to guide the journey.
Xpedition is a smaller ship with only 48 passengers but still with exquisite dining and on-board certified naturalists.
Xploration is a much more intimate 16 passenger luxury catamaran suitable for groups and family gatherings.
